XCOM Legends Soft Launch Receives Negative Reception
The XCOM franchise is a tactic turn-based style RPG. The series has a complex resource management system as you fight through diverse environments to combat an invasive alien race. Last year, there were rumors about an XCOM mobile game in development and earlier this week it was released with not much attention.
A gacha game with not much depth. To start, Firaxis did not create this game like the previous entries. A studio named Iridium Starfish launched the game. The player commands one of Earth’s last resistance groups as they attempt to stop the alien invaders attempting to wipe out the resistance. The game is played vertically and turn-based commanding a squad of 5 units. During combat, you decide which heroes you put behind cover. The main unlockables are different human and alien allies and their weapons and equipment. Beyond that there is not much else removing the flanking, base management, and all the details the main series provides for the player. All of this seems like an attempt to cash in and the rising popularity of mobile games.
The ironic part about all of this is that all the previous XCOM games are available to play on mobile devices. While Legends is Free-to-Play, the previous games in the franchise seem to offer a more in-depth gaming experience. XCOM Legends is available to download today on IOS or Android.

Zoom Adds Multiplayer Games
If you thought the Zoom cat lawyer video was funny, we're sure these new multiplayer games will be just as hilarious as people start to explore them. Zoom recently added multiplayer games into its platform, allowing users to play different games during their meetings. Rather than sit around making awkward small talk while waiting for a meeting to start, you could play some poker with your meeting mates instead. There are just a handful of classic casual games currently, but they're certainly interesting.
Along with poker, there will also be Ellen Digital's mobile game, Heads Up!, a new take on the social game Werewolf called Werewolf with friends, a guessing game called Just Say The Word, and lastly Ask Away, which is meant to help people break the ice. There are a few others that are also within the service, but those ones are the biggest standouts.
While this addition to the meeting service is pretty interesting and cool, it's definitely not new. Multiplayer games like this with video and chat already exist and can be streamed, so it's no real advancement or anything in the gaming world. However, it is another step in the direction of adding games into more mainstream non-gaming related services, such as Peloton. Other companies may soon begin to jump on this trend as well, allowing video games to become more and more widely used in both the real world and the gamer world.
