PUBG Creator Brendan Greene Creates New Studio
Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene is going independent. He is the creator of the popular PUBG: Battlegrounds. Greene worked on projects DayZ's Battle Royale mode and H1Z1 prior to PUBG. Krafton is the parent company for PUBG which has been in charge of the publishing and distribution, and Greene has been working for them since 2016.
Greene is starting a new company in Amsterdam. A move that seemed like it was bound to happen. Back in March 2019 Greene stepped away as the lead designer for PUBG, but stayed on as a creative consultant. He started to work more closely on special projects and wanted to explore other multiplayer-mode. Greene recently announced that he is going to create PlayerUnknown Productions. Krafton will hold minority stake in this new company, which means they probably helped with funding. In Greene's statement, he says he will announce his project at a later date. We do not know if it will be a game or a program. However, he did say he the team is trying to create systems to continue to push the scale of massive open-world games.
This seems like exciting moves for Greene as he continues to develop in this industry. He helped create one of the most successful genres, battle royale, in the past decade. It looks like he may be looking for ways to continue to push the scope of games.

Panasonic's New Speakers Give Surround Sound A Whole New Meaning
Do you know about those portable neck fan things? The ones that look a lot like the neck pillows you take on a plane, except instead it's an entire fan that blows cool air at you until it dies? Yeah, imagine that except you replace the fans with game noise. The SoundSlayer Wearable Immersive Gaming Speaker System, or WIGSS, is a new speaker system from Panasonic that rests around your neck. The design is meant to allow the wearer to listen to music without having their hair getting messed up or their ears being covered. We're not certain why using regular surround sound speakers wouldn't help with this problem, however it is an intriguing design nonetheless.
The SoundSlayer WIGSS Speaker has 4 smaller speakers that point towards the user's head, claiming to provide 360-degree sound for them. The design will help relieve tension and pressure around the wearer's head and ears. The weight is at 244g, so it's actually very similar in weight to most other headsets. The headset however is not wireless, so you wouldn't be able to strut around like those guys from the 80's with a boombox on their shoulder. However, there is a pretty cool built in mic for gaming that allows you to talk and listen at the same time. Currently, the headset isn't available to buy, but Panasonic has stated that they're planning to release it in October.
