Sony’s First PS5 Software Beta Has Arrived
Sony just dropped a beta for their software system in the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, and France. It has some quality of life changes to the user experience, and the highly anticipated M.2 SSD expansion support.
This has been a long awaited software update. During the PS5 promotion, one of the new features was a way to increase the storage via an internal SSD card. In the past, a player would need to buy an external storage device and plug it in through the external ports. This was an exciting change that allowed the consoles to not have extra parts hanging and fear of disconnection. Unfortunately, the PS5 did not launch with this feature ready. More than 7 months later, this software beta allows an M.2 SSD that is PCle Gen4 with speed of at least 5,500 MB/s of speed or faster. Many of the Gen4 drives will be supported through this, but may require a cooling structure. Besides that, there are also change to the user experience. The Control Center and Game Base has easier access, rearranging controls, and managing friends. There is a new trophy tracker that will allow players to quickly access five trophies per game helping players focus on more challenging trophies.
Unfortunately, companies do not provide enough storage for the massive AAA games being produced by these big studios. Having to purchase more storage is becoming on add for console gaming and hopefully will get easier in the future.

Fortnite To Host Concert Series
From August 6th through the 8th, Fortnite will be holding a Rift tour, where players can "take a musical journey into magical new realities where Fortnite and a record breaking superstar collide." The first performer in the series is currently reported to be Ariana Grande, and fans will be able to see Lady Gaga in December. The schedule is predicted to be consistent with Travis Scott's concert series from last year, meaning that the shows could generate a concurrent player count of over 12 million.
Currently, Fortnite has multiple different live in-game challenges that will build up to the mass event. Players who complete the challenges will be rewarded with things like temporary in-game tabs for five in-game events, as well as different cosmetics. Epic has stated that more on the concert will be announced on August 2nd.
Will this be the future of concerts? Not likely, but it's definitely a cool and new idea. Because of the pandemic, live events have become less and less appealing to go to. Having these virtual events will not only allow fans to participate in their favorite musical concerts and activities, but will also allow creators to make up for lost revenue due to cancelled live events and shows. We're hoping more wonderful artists will be on the next series rotation soon.

A Memoir Blue - Explore the depths of memory as you watch the world around you transform before your very eyes. Each new memory will yield all new insights, visuals, and feelings that will help you understand the inner depths of yourself.

Solar Ash - This is a game we've had our eyes on for a while. Traverse a beautifully animated abstract world fighting bosses and meeting friends and foes. The showcase also gave us a definite release date of October 26th, 2021.
