August has officially arrived! We've officially hit the 8th month of the year (crazy, isn't it?) However, we're more than excited for all of the new games that are coming along with it. What game are you most looking forward to this month?

New Studio, That's No Moon Entertainment, Aims to Create AAA Games

This past week a new studio with was announced developed by industry veterans called That's No Moon Entertainment. This company aims to create AAA games centered around "narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences" with teams in Los Angeles and San Diego. The company is being backed with a $100 million investment from Smilegate, the team from the Crossfire franchise, as a sign of good faith for what to come.

A diverse team brought together with ambitious goals. The team consists of Michael Mumbauer (former Head of Playstation's Visual Arts Group), Tina Kowalewski (former Director from Sony's Santa Monica Studio), Nick Kononelos (former Senior Director from EA), Barry Genova (former Engineering Lead at Bungie) among others. These leaders have a variety of experiences working on games with excellent narratives, gameplay, and characters. Working on games such as God of War, Last of Us, Destiny, and Uncharted provide the expertise needed to provided excitement and players for the potential to have to further push the single-player genre.

Single-player games have had a resurgence in recent years thanks to the beautiful and immersive characters and stories. The team is experienced and also ambitious. Team Pineapple Wins DreamHack Beyond 2021: Boost Cup - NA 3v3

Team Pineapple beat Ghost Gaming 2:0 (3:1; 3:0) in the grand-final of DreamHack Beyond 2021: Boost Cup - North America 3v3. DreamHack Beyond is a collection of tournaments within Europe and North America varying between 4 different modes - 3v3, 2v2, 1v1 and Freestyle. Team Pineapple had already won the tournament of this series in the 2v2 format. Team Pineapple, manned by Firstkiller from Rogue, AYYJAYY from FaZe Clan, and Atomic from Team Envy, reached the final through the lower bracket.

In Upper Round 1 Team Pineapple suddenly lost against Vibrance 1:2, and fell into lower bracket. Further, the future champions won six victories in a row, by the way, seizing revenge from Vibrance in the Lower Semi-Finals. In the final, they had to play Ghost Gaming, who went unbeaten through the entire tournament.

For Pineapple to win this final, they needed to win two Bo5 matches, for Ghost Gaming - only one. Ghost Gaming won the first map with a score of 1:0, but then lost three maps in a row (3:5; 0:1; 2:6). Pineapple caught a bout of courage and simply destroyed the rivals in the second game (4:3; 5:1; 5:2), becoming champions.
