Not Superstitious, Just A Little Stitious... Aug 13, 2021

Quick Drop Media

Today is Friday the 13th! So no walking under ladders or petting black cats (just kidding, you should always pet your black cats.) Some interesting gaming superstitions include players believing that picking certain colors of cars in racing games will cause them to win or lose, or that the first shot in an FPS game will never hit, so they shoot a test first. What's your gaming superstition?

Game Development Companies Sprout from Unique Places

In a world where remasters and reboots are all too familiar in older franchise, when we see new companies from we can’t help but get excited for the different possibilities. A return to old form can be fun and a great experience. When we see a new IP push the boundaries of creativity and innovation, it creates a breath of fresh air.

Cory Davis and Robin Finck opens Eyes Out. Cory Davis is a video game industry veteran who worked on titles such as Spec Ops: The Line and F.E.A.R. Robin Finck is a guitarist of Nine Inch Nails and previously from Guns ‘N Roses. Together they created a Los Angeles based game development studio called Eyes Out. They met when Finck was working on Here They Lie, a game produced by Davis’ Tangent Games. They developed a unique vision – “a single-player immersive cosmic horror game with strong environmental storytelling elements”. Davis and Finck share a vision of powerful world-building and meaningful audio to develop an exciting game. Not much else is known, but we hopefully will see more in the near future.

Dr. Disrespect is starting to build his own studio. Controversial streamer Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm announced a partnership with BoomTV to find gaming studio head for their unnamed studio. From the job description, Beahm is looking to build a new team from the ground up to develop AA and AAA games. With Beahm’s experience in gaming and marketing, a new battle royale or something totally new could be in the future.

The video game industry is only continuing to grow, so seeing old and new faces reappear is not a surprise. Hopefully these new studios can force the industry to grow and evolve in ways that ultimately benefit the gamer.

Destiny 2 Season 15 Unleashes New Items

We've already been getting some fun teasers for what Guardians will be able to get in Season 15 of Destiny 2 as the Season of the Splicer comes to a close. There have already been multiple previews regarding sandbox setting adjustments, but not to much more than that. Luckily, Bungie has finally cracked and spilled the beans on some sick new weapons, armor, and gear that players will be able to earn following the start of Season 15. The new season is set to begin on August 24th, 2021.

Season 15, unlike other seasons, will contain all new armor sets as well as brand new weapons that players can earn. First off is the Iron Banner armor, 'Iron Forerunner. It is the 5th armor set that has been introduced in competitive PVP. The most intriguing thing with this armor is a new feature, dubbed Iron Lord's Pride, which allows the player a small chance to receive an Enchantment Prism after the conclusion of an Iron Banner match. Each new armor piece will increase the chances of getting one, with a limit of four piece of the armor at a time.

Weapons are also on the agenda, and there are some solid pieces that players will likely be running to try out once released. There is currently news of an all new sidearm and pulse rifle, both in the fashion of the previous season's Iron Banner weapons. The seasonal Iron Banner quest, vendor packages, end of match drops, and bounties, are all ways that players can attempt to get these new weapons.

Along with these new weapons and armor will be some adjustments and rebalancing to the PVP mode, such as ending sword 3-peaking and Stasis rebalancing.

Game At High Speed, Low Budget

Let's talk about lag for a second. Nobody likes a slow, lagging game that can sometimes even cause you to lose at times if it's at the wrong moment. Online and PVP matches can seriously suffer from a bad connection, but high-quality routers that provide the connection and speed necessary for gaming don't come cheap, with some choices such as the Netgear Nighthawk going for about $600.

However, if you are still looking to upgrade your Wifi without making too big of a dent in your wallet, we may have a great alternative to something that costs over half a grand. The ASUS AX6000 Wireless Gaming Router is currently on sale* on Amazon at almost $90 off its original price. This router contains 8 GB ports, lifetime internet security, an adaptive QoS, and is AI Mesh compatible. The Wifi 6 means better bandwidth, latency, and better connection over multiple different devices at once. It's throughput is a smooth 1,148 Mbps on a 2.4 GHz band and does really well when you're working with a really full network. Be sure to snag one soon!

*Sale may change following drop release.

Get out all that bad luck before the weekend, and have a great one!
