EA Buys Playdemic Mobile Games
If you weren't aware, Warner Bros. had a gaming studio called 'Playdemic'. The studio focused on mobile games, and was mostly popular for their game 'Golf Clash'. The game was produced back in 2010 when mobile games were still getting their start, and was mainly praised for allowing players to play against each other remotely in real time (something that's basically standard practice for most mobile games these days). The game studio was sold to EA for about $1.4 billion. The studio released this statement:
"We have enjoyed working with the talented team at Playdemic as they have grown ‘Golf Clash’ beyond all expectations into a hit mobile game with tremendous longevity...While we have great respect for the Playdemic team, our decision to divest is a part of our overall strategy to build games based on Warner Bros. storied franchises. We founded Playdemic with a focus on creating highly engaging and innovative game experiences… Joining EA, one of the most successful games companies in the world, is an important next step in our journey and we are excited to continue to develop both ‘Golf Clash’ and new titles as part of the EA family."
We're excited to see the synergies this has to offer in the future!

New Space Jam Movie Has Tie-in Video Game
A while back, Xbox asked fans to submit art and ideas to what a Space Jam arcade would look like. They would then choose a winner and create a game, and the winners will receive a private screening, signed memorabilia, and their names in the game’s credit. Xbox along with Digital Eclipse created a 90’s era beat-em up inspired by games such as The Simpsons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can play as LeBron James, Bugs Bunny, or Lola Bunny while fighting different goons and robots while using a wide variety of power-ups.
Warner Bros. and Xbox also revealed three new Xbox controllers – all Space Jam themed. They have one for the Tune Squad, Goon Squad, and the fictional Space Jam world. These are available on July 8th for a limited time. If you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription you can access play Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game very soon on July 1. The game becomes free to play on July 15th on the Microsoft Store just shy of the movie release on HBO Max on July 16th.
