The 2021 Call of Duty League (CDL) Kickoff Classic is back. The league consists of 12 teams that compete in three game modes: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control. Most of the teams returned from last years season, including the two 2020 finalists, Dallas Empire & Atlanta FaZe.
Dallas Empire was victorious and crowned champions in 2020 after beating FaZe in a best of 9 series (5-1). It seems as though this season may be a continuation of their success having dominated NY Subliners (3-0) in their first "preseason" match. Atlanta FaZe, on the other hand, lost to a formidable competitor Florida Mutineers in a (3-2) battle. To our surprise, the rest of the matches in the first weekend were quite competitive requiring 5 games to determine a winner in the first to 3. If the first weekend is any indication of the 2021 season, we are excited.
Quick Drop Squad's take: Our money is on Dallas Empire to take the cake again. This should not come as a surprise since they went into this season as one of the favorites. During their preseason match they were heavy favorites against NY Subliners with a money line of -335 (for those who don't bet this means bet $3.35 on Dallas to win $1.00 or bet $335 to win $100).
